Who we are

We’re an Australian network dedicated to seeing thousands of healthy, evangelistic, multiplying churches all across Australia.

The need

Churches across Australia are smaller and older. We’re shutting the doors of more churches than we’re opening. We’ve got to do more to see healthy, evangelistic, multiplying churches across our nation.

The goals

300 NEW CHURCHES BY 2030

We’ve seen more than 120 churches planted across our network over the past 10 years and we’re driving towards 200 more by 2030.

We work with established churches and their leaders to help them develop and grow.

Why is planting vital?

New churches reach new people.

On average, there is 1 new Christian per 12 members at a church plant.

They are five times more effective than established churches at reaching people with the gospel.

New churches are incubators for new models of evangelism and ministry.

The road to a new church is long

It takes up to ten years from someone starting to consider planting to being ready to plant a church.

We need to put church planting on the agenda for people as early as possible.

Ministry apprentices
  • 20 apprentices developed leadership skills through Learn to Lead.
  • They meet monthly to see how key church leaders across the country are mobilising for mission.

Bible college students
  • Planting and Leadership Incubators put church planting and senior leadership on the radar for people at Bible College. Small groups gather throughout year with a church planter to discuss what it could look like to step up into church leadership roles.
  • It was piloted in 2022 with 23 people.

  • 71 people completed a CPAT (Church Planting Assessment Tool)
  • It helps them ask the right questions and takes them one step closer to planting a church

  • 14 potential church planters assessed
  • Experience and wisdom from across the network is leveraged to help support people in these life-changing decisions and sharpen their thinking about who they’re going to reach.

Church planters need support from the network

45 planters coached
  • Church planters are coached from 6 months before planting until 3 years after launch.
56 people invested in their marriage through Refresh
  • We’re supporting not only healthy churches, but healthy marriages as well.  Refresh is a few days that church planters can take out from the rigours of ministry to invest in their marriage.
  • In 2022 we celebrated 10 years, inviting planters from all years back to celebrate, recalibrate, so they can keep investing back into their local church together.

Healthy churches don't exist without healthy leaders

Healthy leaders build capacity by building teams that recruit, train, equip and unleash members of their church

Healthy leaders build gospel leaders for the next generation—future church planters, missionaries, pastors and evangelists.

  • 5% growth in church attendance each year
  • 5 out of every 100 people attending your church are becoming Christians each year
  • Greater than 55% of your church are serving regularly in teams
  • At least 65% of people in a small group
  • Over 20% of attendance at services is children and youth
  • Your church is preparing to start something new

We want transformative change in church leaders – towards a thriving network of theologically driven, evangelistically urgent, spiritually vibrant, and practically skilled teams. The Development Program provides consulting, coaching, and leadership intensives for cohorts of pastors.

In 2022 55 consults took place and in 2023 we are heading towards 75.

We facilitate teams stopping and reflecting together, analysing their church’s health and identifying priorities and actionable next steps.

105 established leaders coached

Church leaders are coached by experienced ministry coaches to help pastors implement the content from the Development Program and Consults. Coaching is critical for the development of healthy leaders.

239 church members trained across 6 Building Leaders days

A full day helping church leaders and members develop leadership pipelines in their context, full of examples and structures for how it’s worked in other Australian churches.

39 women attending Days Away through the Wives Network

Three day events at the Gold Coast to explore the challenges and joys of ministry as a pastor’s wife and key leadership practices.

30 women coached through the Wives Network

Wives of senior pastors help each other navigate the complexities and unique challenges of their role.

We need to build healthy teams

We are thrilled to announce that in 2023 Reach Australia is expanding its scope to include building healthy teams. By promoting healthy leadership teams, we aim to foster confident and collaborative teams of men and women serving Christ together, and increasing the number of women serving in Christian leadership roles.

To support this new focus, we are excited to introduce Jo Gibbs as an Effective Teams Consultant for Reach Australia. Jo has been an active member of the network for several years and brings over two decades of diverse church ministry experience.
