Convictions for growth and change

If you’ve never been to Foundations before, this is the place to begin. This day will stretch how you think about church, growth and change, and give you convictions that shape everything else at conference.

Together we’ll explore outcome thinking, what healthy teams look like, and the clarity and responsibility leaders need to keep moving forward.

You’ll wrestle with why a passion for numerical growth is both risky and necessary, how to see church as a pathway and ecosystem, and what it means to rethink the roles and responsibilities of leaders.

It’s a big day — full, challenging and thought-provoking. But you’ll come away with convictions that sharpen your focus, deepen your courage and strengthen your vision for making disciples in ever-increasing number.

Clarity in your leadership

For those who’ve already completed Foundations 1, this stream takes you further by moving from why to how — from conviction to practice.

A big part of the day is facing the uncomfortable truth that, as leaders, we can often be the biggest barrier to lasting and effective change. It’s confronting, even painful at times, but it opens the door to real clarity about your leadership and what needs to shift.

From there, you’ll be equipped with practical tools: frameworks like NOW–WHERE–HOW, strategies for giving and taking responsibility, and the skills to recruit, develop and manage leaders. You’ll explore what happens when we fail to challenge the status quo, and how culture changes when leaders set the pace.

Case studies from churches already on the journey will bring these lessons to life. It’s an intense and stretching day, but one that leaves you with sharper insight, stronger conviction, and practical tools to lead change with courage and confidence.

Gatherings and flows

The day gives you space to pause and step back, to reflect on the whole system of church life. We’ll zoom out and see church as more than a set of programs, as a living ecosystem where people move through gatherings and across generations.

Together we’ll wrestle with how kids, youth and adults flow through church life, how those gatherings connect, and what it looks like to align ministries around the same vision.

It’ll be a demanding but refreshing day. You’ll walk away with clarity on the big picture, tools to strengthen unity across ministries, and pathways that help every generation take their next step in Christ.

It’s ideal for teams to wrestle together with their church ecosystem, and especially valuable for senior ministers and those serving specific groups—kids, youth, young adults, families and seniors.

Multiply: Towards Planting

If you’ve got a heart to reach the lost and have ever wondered whether church planting could be for you, this day is designed to help you explore that question. It’s for individuals and couples to connect with experienced planters, hear their stories — both the challenges and the opportunities — and begin shaping a personal road map for what planting might look like in your own life.

Together we’ll consider why planting is crucial for reaching new people and strengthening the gospel ecosystem in Australia, what kind of person makes a church planter, and what the journey from first questions to launch really involves. You’ll walk away with greater clarity and a sense of the next steps to take as you work out whether planting is part of your future.

Across the country, more churches are partnering or merging to better steward resources and shepherd people in order to reach the lost now and into the future.

This stream will bring together leaders exploring this conversation. You’ll hear case studies, consider the key questions to ask, and connect with denominational and senior leaders who are seeking to wisely steward what God has entrusted for the good of the gospel in Australia.

Designed for denominational leaders, lead pastors and their elders/councils, we’ll explore why mergers succeed or fail, the different types of mergers, and what it looks like to move from exploration to integration, including timelines and practical steps.
