Reach Australia National Conference - Plant Stream

National Conference 2026 has now wrapped up. Session recordings and resources are being released progressively on the Reach Australia Podcast.
Reach Australia Network
Should we plant?

18-21 May 2026

Across Australia, the gospel is opening new ground.

New churches are taking root in suburbs, communities, and people groups that would otherwise remain unreached. People are hearing Jesus clearly — some for the first time — and local churches are forming around that good news.

We come together to fix our gaze on Christ, be refreshed by his word, and give ourselves again to the work of seeing more churches planted so that more people across Australia might know and follow Jesus.

Reaching Australia will require many more churches - planted, replanted, and multiplied over time.

Who this stream is for

This stream is for leaders who are already asking planting questions.

  • Churches under six years old, where culture is still being set and early decisions will shape the future.
    • Planters carrying significant responsibility and sensing that something needs to change.
    • Core team members helping shape the church and thinking carefully about health, growth, and sustainability.
  • Individuals or teams exploring whether planting is the next step and wanting to test that sense of calling against Scripture and lived experience.
  • Churches being asked, by leaders, networks, or themselves, whether planting again is on the horizon.

What's happening

Across the week, the Plant stream gives time and space to work through questions like:

  • Are people outside our church hearing the gospel clearly? What would it take to reach many more?
  • If we planted again in the next year or two, who might God be raising up to go?
  • What needs to be in place before a launch so the first year builds momentum rather than drains it?
  • Where is growth already slowing because too much sits with too few people?
  • Has our current venue quietly capped who we’re able to reach?
  • What would a healthy, fruitful church look like ten years from now if planting stayed central?
  • Which decisions keep being postponed because they’re costly or uncomfortable?

"The Gosford plant conference was fantastic. With about 100 people attending, it's small enough to genuinely get to know others and have multiple meaningful conversations."

Al Stewart
Vine Church

It was mostly church planters or people in the early stages of planting that I was speaking to. I would go back next year, ideally bringing more people with me so they can start to get their heads around that kind of thinking.

Glen Jones
Emmanuel Church Marsden Park

I’ve really enjoyed listening to all the wives and their experience of planting. They share really helpful and wise things. As a new mum I’m trying to work out how planting works as a parent. And they just have so much wisdom.

Abby Loh
Providence Bayswater

It was really encouraging to be with like-minded people who are all thinking about the specific role of planting and reaching our nation through that.

Duncan Andrews
Trinity Church Victor Harbor

There was a lot of energy in the room—a real passion for the very thing we’re all trying to do at this stage: planting or having just planted and keeping it going.

Rob Abboud
MBM Blacktown

The vibe was cosy, enjoyable, friendly, and vibrant. It felt like a place where everyone was genuinely connected and passionate about the same mission.

Michael Davis
Lennox Head Church Plant

As someone thinking about planting in two or three years, what’s been most helpful is having real face-to-face chats with people about how they planted, what they did, and the principles behind it.

Popo
Providence Bayswater

We got a lot of practical insights about why planting is complex, how to manage it, and what the next steps might be for our team. It was about making it work sustainably.

Claire Williams
City on a Hill, Wellington Hutt Valley Campus

The vibe in the room was really great — super cosy. The hosts did a fantastic job creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Everyone was friendly, and it felt way less intimidating.

Hendre Jansen Van Vuuren
Trinity Church Lockleys

Gosford was awesome because it helped us rediscover the sharp edge about the need for church planting. There’s no better way to do that than to get people who are on that razor’s edge all together in a room. It was just fantastic.

Des Smith
Trinity Church Lockleys

It’s solidified for me that more churches absolutely need to be planted, especially in Western Australia where there aren’t many churches. I feel really passionate and excited about that.

Lucy Pratt
Abbotsford Presbyterian Church
Gosford

Gosford was fantastic. It was just really good hanging out with other people who are planting or who have planted. I was able to pick their brains and get some ideas from them.

Evan Harris
Foundry Church

It is so helpful to come together to learn from each other and work together for the sake of God's Kingdom. Really beneficial.

Emily Davy
Salt Community Church

Overall, it was an awesome conference, I left feeling so refreshed and just eager to get straight back into things, so full of urgency to see the lost come to know Christ.

Maddie Adric
Toongabbie Baptist Church

There’s something about being around all these men and women who are thinking about planting a church. And all the things that they’re worrying about, wrestling with, and are excited about. Having that rub off is fantastic.

Dan Shepheard
Crossroads Hobart

It’s encouraging to see how Reach has worked in so many parts of Australia and how we can all work towards a common goal—spreading the gospel.

Justine Kim
Christ Church Gladesville

The biggest thing on my mind has been how crucial change is. It’s not okay to be satisfied where we are; we have to keep moving forward and growing.

Eliseo Juan-Ramirez
Mortdale-Oatley Baptist Church

If I hadn’t come, I think I would have been deprived of encouragement. This conference every year reminds me how big the mission field of our country is, and what’s happening around Australia.

Gordon Luk
St Stephen’s Willoughby

I’ve appreciated the Bible feeding — it’s reminded me of the reality of a lost world, the power of Christ, and the victory of Christ.

Edwin Chow
Grace Christian Community Melbourne

This week has been incredible — feeling fired up for mission, surrounded by amazing people ready to take the gospel all over Australia. It’s powerful to be part of something reaching a nation searching for the only answer Jesus can give.

Jeremy Kidd
Lighthouse Church

It's just great. Getting to meet others, seeing the whole network of different churches and how they're doing things gives us ideas and encourages us.

Dan Wilton
Crossroads Church Canberra
